Psalm 133

Behold, how good and pleasant it is
when brothers dwell in unity!
It is like the precious oil on the head,
running down on the beard,
on the beard of Aaron,
running down on the collar of his robes!
It is like the dew of Hermon,
which falls on the mountains of Zion!
For there the LORD has commanded the blessing,
life forevermore.
(Psalm 133 ESV)

Call me a “pie in the sky” kind of guy, but I must say that this Psalm gives us a picture of what we ought to be working toward. We are a nation of royal priests. The Greater Aaron is anointed with the Holy Spirit, and it is so liberally provided to Him that it overflows, it drips down His beard, to drop on the Church, His Body, the Mountain of Zion. We are one in Christ, so let our love for one another be in accordance with His will. For the same one who said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35 ESV) has also commanded the blessing of life everlasting. God takes unity in the Spirit seriously, and so should we.
