God Is God And We Are Not

If we love, we need to remember that God loved first.

If we think, we need to remember that God thought first.

How can we understand what it means for God to be God?

The Creator/creature distinction should inform nearly every part of our knowledge, which can be comprehended in man’s knowledge of himself and of God.

If we think God is unfair, we need to remember that God is God and we are not.

If we think God should have done something differently, we need to remember that God is God and we are not.

Who are you, O man, to answer back to God?

Our response:

And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!”

Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”

Isaiah 6:5-7 (ESV)
