The Mystery of Godliness

Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness:

He was manifested in the flesh,
vindicated by the Spirit,
seen by angels,
proclaimed among the nations,
believed on in the world,
taken up in glory.

-1 Timothy 3:16 (ESV)

So godliness is a mystery that is manifested in the Incarnation of the Word, his subsequent justification (resurrection), the witness of the world-shattering event by the hosts of heaven (the heavens have been shaken!), the preaching of the Gospel of the crucified and risen Messiah, the efficacy and fruit of the Kingdom message preaching in the obedience of faith it produced in the hearers, and the ascension/exaltation to the right hand of God the Father by Jesus, receiving the Kingdom, power and glory that He was graciously given for his obedience to the death at Calvary.

Mysteries unveiled in the life of Christ. He showed up in human history in a seeming blink of an eye, but when He came, everything changed. The Father sent His Son to become a creature, a man, to restore the image of God (which Christ was already) in man through the Holy Spirit.

Any time you think your faith is not amazing and exciting and mind-blowing… Just repent cause it can’t get much cooler than that. Cherish it and treasure up all these truths in your heart. The Story God is telling in Christ is so large and spectacular that sometimes it is good to just sit back, take a deep breath and meditate on the beauty and majesty of God as He is revealed in Christ.

Good reminder on how to handle the times when our beliefs seem to become dull or lacking in excitement.
