The Self-Consecration of Christ

For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering. For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers, (Hebrews 2:10-11 ESV)

Christ offers Himself (by the “ministration” of Pilate as the face of the King of the Gentiles, Caesar) to the Father to sanctify/consecrate the True Tabernacle (The Totus Christus) His Body. As we are reminded by Justin Taylor here, that the substance of who we are is defined by our “union with Christ”. This is how we are consecrated as the Temple. It is all accomplished in Christ’s obedience unto death through suffering. We become the consecrated Tabernacle by our union with Him. His sacrifice was sufficient to consecrate Himself, so it is sufficient to consecrate us by His Spirit. “If we also suffer with him…”
